What an empowering way to view the ugliness of what you've been through. The idea that the very circumstances that caused you great suffering are the same things that magnify you & make you better. You would not be HALF the person you are today without that suffering... because it is by design & such an important part of your story. Those were lessons you HAD to learn to evolve. The brutal gut punches made a warrior out of you and you are stronger than ever because of it all. Your story IS your magic. Rest in that.
My latest exhibition at Exhibit A Gallery for Pick It Up LA explored the process of putting yourself back together after trauma, heartbreak and pain. The women in my paintings are proudly living in the glory of their broken pieces, aware that the pain and suffering endured has molded them into a greater form of themselves. It takes a true understanding of your inner strength and power to surrender through the eruptive nature of life... to rest in knowing that you will be okay & it's all just part of the process.
This collection of artwork serves as a gentle reminder not to dwell in the misery of my past pains but rather, live in the triumph of overcoming something I was sure would break me. My scars remind me of who I was and who I am becoming... I couldn't be more grateful for every hit I've taken because I took it like a fuckin' champ. I'm a better person now, I can feel that and I am so full of love.
The worst thing you can do is allow your circumstances to rot you. No more stories about how heartbreak made you cold. Tell me about the good things that came from your pain, how are you better? Let's heal together.
God bless the rose that grew through concrete.
I will be adding to this collection and showcasing again for Nuit Noire at the end of this month. Details coming soon.
